Start Loving the Job You Hate

Get the transcript at www.feelgoodenglish.com/member

Instead of changing jobs every six months, why don't you learn a way to start loving the job you currently have.

There is a common philosophy out there that we have to follow our passion and find the perfect job based on what we love to do in life.

Well finding a job based on your passion is often not even possible. But there is a way to enjoy the job you have a lot more, and in the book, "So Good They Can't Ignore You" by Cal Newport, you will learn:

  • Why following your passion is a bad idea
  • Why more people today are dissatisfied with their jobs than in the past
  • What you should do instead of looking for the "perfect" job
  • What skills you should develop in today's competitive job market.

Apply it to Your English Fluency

In this episode, I will show you how you can take the lessons from the book and not only enjoy your job more, but see faster progress in your English speaking skills too.

Listen up!

How Do You Get People to Like You More?

We've heard it before, "Just be yourself!" But according to the book, "The Like Switch" by Dr. Jack Schafer, you should first use a system that helps you connect with someone, and eventually gaining their trust and getting them to like you.

In his book, he gives two strategies that you can apply to situations like job interviews, schools, business colleagues, and whenever you have to get people to like you.

Apply These Lessons to English

In this episode, I will teach you how to apply these strategies to your life, and use simple tactics when talking to others in English . Stop just getting "likes" on your Facebook and Instagram posts and start getting real likes.

How Do You Become Rich?

Someone studied successful people to find the exact answer to this, and the lessons he shared have been followed for the last hundred years, and the book is still being studied today. At the beginning of the 20th century (1900) a guy named Napolean Hill was challenged to do something. He was challenged to interview very successful people over the next 20 years to find out what lead to their success. And through this research, he created the book "Think and Grow Rich" which is a self-help classic.

Do you Want to Become Rich in English?

What he found was that none of these successful people possess skills that were unattainable by most people. What it comes to when gaining big success can be broken down into a process. And I am going to talk about this process, and how you can apply it to your English learning in this episode of the Feel Good English podcast.

Neuro-linguistic programming deals with how our minds and bodies are connected, how our emotions work, how we see the world, everybody sees the world differently, and our experiences and the way we communicate with other people is completely based on our own map of how we have learned about the world.

If you find yourself living in and thinking about the past too much, or maybe you procrastinate and you never seem to be able to get ahead of the projects that you want to get done, you are always doing them at the last minute, if you feel sad a lot, you are depressed a lot, maybe you start new habits, but then you soon give up, you soon quit

If you're like me, it can seem like you have way too many things that you either want to do or "have" to do. And with your English learning, you might not be sure about what area to focus on, what vocab to learn, what skill to develop, etc... I find myself constantly feeling like I am behind on the things I am trying to accomplish. It's just one thing after the other. Should I do this or that? What will bring me the biggest result? Which direction should I follow? Am I wasting my time on this? It can be frustrating! The book The One Thing, by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan, goes deep into the topic of finding the most important thing to focus on in all aspects of life. It could be a specific project you're working on, a new skill, or a life dream. Through looking at all situations from a macro and micro level, meaning what's the best next-step now right now and for the long term, and asking yourself something called the "focus question", the book offers great insight into how to achieve more success in life and business. This book really is a must-read! Get the free transcript at http://www.feelgoodenglish.com/one-thing/

Want to know how to succeed? According to this Ted speaker, sleeping more can help. In this small talk with a "big idea", Ariana Huffington shares what she thinks can help you be more effective and creative in life and business. I recorded this episode a bit different than the other Ted Talk Tuesday episodes. In this one I will go through the short talk (3-minutes) and explain the vocab and expressions she uses while I am discussing the talk itself. Why am I doing it like this? You could consider this a shorter, more "English focused" lesson. But hopefully not boring! I hate boring English lessons like I hate waiting in lines (I guess because it's boring too). So the idea is for you to learn some new words and expressions while also getting some quick tips on how to live a better life, and develop a better English.
